Regardless of timing, fear typically finds a way into day-to-day life, especially during a season of singleness. World culture puts emphasis on self and status. This is a topic we’ll be discussing in an upcoming podcast episodes!

While reflecting on my own life, both past and present, I realized several areas that weren’t fully surrendered to God. And not in those I love you LORD, but I’m still hoping it will work out according to “my plans” — sort of way.

    How to expose fear?

Allow me to explain. Often times the biggest thing we end up fearing, is actually fear itself. Fear is a spiritual force that can actually attract the very things we dread most. In a sense, fear is the opposite of faith.

When fear creeps in, we think all the wrong thoughts, and we speak all the wrong words. I call these the “What If’s” like the Marvel TV series “WHAT IF” but you, the (single Christian) are the narrator and the perspective of the story is based on the past, current, or future storylines of your life.

The word of God shows us that:
    1. Faith is positive, expectancy of good from God.
    2. Fear is a negative expectancy of bad things to happen.

The scripture in John 4:18 says; “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. Fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.

When we are filled with fear, we often make poor choices and speak unwisely, shutting down our ability to receive God’s blessings. Living in fear can be a turbulent ordeal, but it’s important to remember that you’re not alone in your struggles. As Christian singles, we may experience a tug-of-war between our spirit and emotions, but not all feelings are negative.

It’s crucial to maintain good spiritual, mental, and physical health to prevent fear, doubt, and anxiety from taking root. Prioritizing self-care and nurturing the fruits of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—help us thrive as God’s children. However, overcoming fear requires allowing our hearts to experience the love of Christ, as Apostle Paul prayed for believers in [Ephesians 3:17–19].

    How to live in freedom?

Christian singles have the unique opportunity to lean into God’s love, praying and letting Him fill us with His truth. Whether we have a significant other or not, we can stand in the wholeness of Christ and live a full, healthy, and happy life.

My prayer for you is that reading this brings a little more peace into your life today.
